Today performance was great and i just got to say Wildcards is the best.

Here we go, we are Wildcards!!

After the stunt feast i found out something interesting and funny at our holding room so decide to take some pic of it down.

Hi all! Here's a big thank you to all the cheerleaders who came down today for Wildcards Official Launch! ^^

We hope that every1 had fun during the Stunt Fest. Although it was a little saddening that we had to clear the location by 1.30pm, we hope that every1 went back feeling good about today.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Andra and Jen who helped out today as guest instructors. Special thanks to Vincent for coming up with the uniform design!

Last but not least, we would also liked to thank our coaches Zhi Liang and Chaang Ru for spending the past one month drilling the routine into us!

Below is the video of our routine. Watch and enjoy! =D

Thailand Secon Square 2008

Champions --- Bangkok University

1st runner up --- Vanquish

2nd runner up --- Swan

CR's analysis: The practice of crisis control is very important. Notice that Swan had a fall in during their opening pyramid but their mid-tier still climbed up the shoulder stand to be in time for the 221. Their bases and top flyer also trusted that she could make it in time and did not hesitate to complete the pyramid. This is very commendable.

Dismounts: Front tuck dismounts are a thing of the past. Notice that all 3 teams use front walk and cartwheel dismounts from pyramids. The visuals are fantastic.

Dance: The ever popular lindy hop is becoming very popular with cheerleading. If your bases cannot dance, make sure you incorporate this inside. It saves a lot of trouble and adds on to the visuals to your routine.

Top gun: running around with your hands grasped and upper body down is a Top Gun trademark. Makes your routine look very dynamic compared to the ''keeping your hands close to your body'' style.

Other comments anybody? =)

Playing cards.

If you guys are familiar with the game, ''Dai Dee'' is a game for 4 people holding 13 cards each.

Building, maintaining and developing a cheerleading team is exactly like a game of daidee.

Having four ''di-s'' (read: number 2 which is the largest card in the game) doesn't necessarily mean that you will win the game. If you are complacent and don't monitor how the game is progressing you may actually lose the game before you even have a chance to throw your big cards.

Likewise, not having any ''big cards'' doesn't mean you will lose as well. Having straight royal flushes (5,6,7,8,9,10) of all colours can let you win almost instantly.

Cards from 5-10 are not big cards. Alone by themselves can be over-run by other cards easily. But together they form a royal flush. Which is very substantial.

Be it the card, or the player, it is important to know where you stand .. and how you should go about developing your own potential to the fullest. Developing potential takes time, and a lot of discipline. The way you guys kept the mats in the light of the imminent rain during today's training is really very commendable. Even graham said you all were faster than the army boys. lol.

Still, being complacent is very deadly. Being late for trainings or neglecting your basics is tantamount to losing the chance to throw a good card in the game. Once time is lost, you will never get it back. Throwing a wrong card means your entire game plan must change. This will cost you dearly.

Train hard, take care of each other, and overcome your own barriars. Surpass your own limits. So even at the end of the day if you were to lose the game, you will still marval at how beautifully you played the game with the cards at hand.

We are Wildcards. Create your winning hand.

Date: 30 Nov 2008

Time: 9am - 3pm
To the Singapore cheerleading community,

PAYM(People's Association Youth Movement) will be holding an event on the 30 of Nov 2008 at Ulu Pandan CC. The event will be graced by Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, MP de Souza and MP Liang Eng Hwa and is organised to promote sports in the youths of today.

Wildcards would like to extend our warmest welcome to any cheerleader, regardless of age, size, squad or level of skill, etc to take part in this event and take this oppitunity to build bonds between squads, and perhaps pick up/teach/show off a technique or two.

The event will start off with a performance by Wildcards to welcome the Ministers to the CC at 9Am, held at the central stage area set up for the event.

The focus will then move to the area reserved for us where there'll be a mini workshop/stunting session conducted by our coaches and residential instructors, as well as guest instructors invited for the event. This mini workshop will be very much self motivated, where one can proceed at their own pace, from people with no experience learning their first thigh stands, to old birds tossing up their cupies

This workshop session will last till 3pm. We strongly encourage you peeps to come on time so that you won't miss out all the fun =)

Who should attend: Cheerleaders of all levels, those who want to find out more about cheerleading, and those interested to join us !

Wildcards featured cheerleader part 2

Saturday, November 15, 2008

At 1.68 meters and 47kg, Nellie isn't your typical flyer. She has ridiculously long legs (which makes her damm hard to toss bcos of all that extra distance) and absurdly poor flexibility =P

But Wildcard's first Team Manager has gone a long way since 2006, providing the essential backoffice support for the team.

nop
It's nearly 3 months since our very first training as Wildcards. We had people who came and went, but now we have a precious team, dedicated to bringing Wildcards to greater heights. =)

Let's start off with our team's pretty girls :D

And then the interruption of some not so pretty boys haha

Mutual trust is very important in a relationship like this!

Looking good!

There you've done it Ka Hau!

Look at Graham's "scissors" faltering under the immense pressure of Gary's "stone".

Whoo Gary my man!

Our invincible coach Chaang!

The ever strong Yi Fang!

Now we know us girls are not the only cam-whores around here

Somebody explain Ivan's expression please!

Steady...steady...

And you're up!

So here's one thing to improve on, landing!

Haha somehow Nellie is always ready for the camera :D

Were you really shouting your lungs out!

Chaang stole the light!

Guess who's the happiest :D

I'll leave out the caption for this picture for the sake of Wildcards' inside joke :D

Ready....

Pop!

Ready....

Pop!

The emotional pain of shaved sideburns

Ready...

Double twist!

BEAR HUGGGG!!!!

Hey gorgeous!

What's the front row's action supposed to be again?

Nice jump girls!

You're wondering what Yi Fang and Joline's doing...

And you wonder again. Sure looks like fun though! ;D

Chaang dressed smartly!

Bring it higher and remember to breatheeeee!

Very nice people!

Cow strength coach Zhi Liang!

Listening intently to Boss.

And then of course we end the day with more pretty girls :)
