HAPPY CNY TO ALL !

Festive season , Festive moods, Festive indulgence !

While all of you are happily downing that ice cold beer and eating those fatty ''bah kwa'' please remember to go for a slow jog, a swim or hit the gym if it is possible (cos most public gyms close at 5pm ) . This is probably the only time left for you to rest those aching muscles and aging joints. Moving forward, we will go full force all the way till 15 March !

A bit of visual feasting for the guys, and case study for everybody ! Notice that although their dance is not thattttt zai, their showmanship and energy is good ! Expect a lot more from our dear Vincent after the CNY break. If you thought Chaang is ruthless... well.. Vincent can be scarier than me.

*evil laughter..

See you peeps on Wed !

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Hey you guys! Rachell here :)
Chaang told me to update you guys on my condition.
Since I'm able to blog and all, I'm still alive and kickin'! :)
The pain on my upper back's still rather persistant but it's alot more bearable now.
The bump on my head's healing too, not so painful unless someone decides to press on it!
TTS hospital NEVER called me regarding my condition (&(@*#@#) but I'm going back for a brain scan after CNY cause daddy's worried.

Just wanna say that I missed you guys a whole lot!!

I miss my pretty and cute and NOT BIMBOTIC powerpuffs!
I miss Chaang's scoldings (yes even this!)
I miss Gary's nice solid grip
I miss Joline calling me ahlian (only when I don't smile/speak!)
I miss laughing as Nellie when Chaang attacks
I miss Zhi Chen's muscles (hahaha)
I miss talking to Hui Shan about cute adorable kids!!
I miss Zhi Liang's 100% hit rate on single lib
I miss Isaac's loud burping
and I miss everyone else but it'll be so draggy if I were to list everyone!
But not listing you doesn't mean I don't miss you guys okay, I DO I DO :)

I'll go back and visit you guys after CNY (with brownies and cupcakes), can't wait to see you guys' improvement :)
Love you Wildcards!
All the waaaayyyy :)

Cards on 3! 1, 2, 3 CARDS!

P.S: And in case you guys were wondering what I've been up to these days, I've been doing my sales journal instead of rotting at home :)
Can't be helped, can't work normally with a back like that :(

Kentucky Entry Video 2008-2009

The most perfect video i have EVER SEEN.

Cheerobics Rules 08

As the rules for 09 has not been posted yet, these werethe rules for 08,

The way it worked last year was that the 5 score judges will each grade each team based on the judging scale (refer below). The highest and lowest scores are not taken into consideration. The three scores given will be added up.

There will be 2 panalty judges in addition to the score judges, the average of the points these two penalty judges give will be subtracted from the raw score given by the score judges to arraive at your final score.

Judging Scale for Team Categories

There will be a panel of 5 or more judges. The highest and lowest scores are dropped.

Penalty judges will be responsible for determining and assessing all point deductions for perfection of routine and competition safety guideline violations. There will be a panel of 2 or more judges.

These penalty points will be averaged and deducted from the subtotal of the remaining scores to reach a grand total.

UPDATED CALENDAR

Hello Wildcards,

Please take note of the updated calendar, esp the Sunday trainings!

Make the necessary adjustments to your schedule as we're giving you at least 3 weeks notice for the change of training dates. Because if anyone doesnt turn up, we cant do certain stunts. Then those who make the effort to come down will be disadvantaged. So, lets ALL accommodate okay? :)

If we manage to hit out quota during the weekdays, the Sunday trainings might be taken out! :D

So, TRAIN HARD!

NTU ACES, National Cheerobics Champions 2008.

2008 is the year Cheerleading Association of Singapore (CAS) decided to follow International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC)'s competition standard to place a cap of a maximum of 16 people in a routine with a time limit of 2.30min. In 2008, NTU ACES were the Champions with a score difference of 40+points from 1st runner ups KR Steppers. Let us try to learn from their routine to see what made them Champion in 2008.

SEGMENT 1

1)Opening stunt, Tosses : 03 x layout (+ difficulty score. layout is harder than backtuck)

2) Jumps: Double toe touches (requirement)

3) Gymnastics segment: 1 round off back tuck, 2 round off back hands springs, some round offs and a basket toss layout twist (+ difficulty score)

4) Partner Stunts: 7 toss up hands, single lib ( + difficulty score. full squad partner stunts)

5) Pyramid 1 : 540 toe pitch--> 270 toss up gladiator ---> front tuck dismounts ---> waterfalls ---> toss up swedish falls. (+ difficulty score on toss ups, gymnastic element dismounts)

effective pyramid transition: gladiator ---> swedish fall (x2 pyramid to pyramid transition)

CHANTS

1) 4 consecutive arm motions (requirement)

2) 4 heel stretches, pop single twist dismount (requirement, 1 stunt) (+difficulty. flexibility element on stunt and twist dismounts)

3) Full up 221 (requirement, 1 pyramid) (+difficulty: full up 221. cartwheel dismounts. )

SEGMENT 2

1) 1 set of Dance (requirement)

2) Pyramid 2 : two basket toss pike opens (+difficulty)---> toss up glad ---> 443

3) Ending pyramid: Ground up high chair (+difficulty, ground up pyramid )

CR's note: what works for others, might not work for you. And vice versa. There are certain elements in cheerleading that is classified under '' cannot do means cannot do '' . If you are a flyer and you haven been stretching all your life, it will be impossible to hit a full squad bow and arrow although this flexibility element stunt will score a lot of points. Likewise, if you are Zhiliang and retarded telling you to do a round off backhands spring twist layout is also asking for the sky.

It is important to work on the team's strengths rather than your own individual strength and use it to your advantage during competitions. There can be 101 ways to do well in a competition but probably only one suitable formula for your team.

And most importantly always remember, no matter how big your stunts are; if they don't hit, they don't count.

Zhiliang will touch on IFC's competition requirement in his next post. **Shoots arrow at ZL**
