学海无崖
In short, there is no limit for those who seeks to learn.
Chaang's point of view for this team is that time is crucial, and that works against a social team, like us. After nationals, we are now busy recruiting for the new team already. Turnover rates for social team is alarming, and he is addressing from the bottomline view.
==========================
Let's look at this in a Capitalist way (Chaang's corporate way). Welfare doesn't fall from the sky. It is set in place with lots of "reserve" (Skills and competency) . We have to work extra hard to make sure we see enough "profits" (winning/achievements) to tide us through rainy days, and to those who are putting in the effort, the "returns" don't show until you hit pension age(end of 1 season). Some of us work well in such situation; talent, ability to work under pressure, hard workers. but there are those who slog and barely hit the quota. It is not unusual that the "CEO" will axe "unproductive" workers. Does the "CEO" axe immediately? It is often after an appraisal and observation period. When these workers fail to meet the standards, did they sound the alarm for help? As co-workers, did we help to improve their "productivity"?
Now, the co-workers are perceived as shouldering the burden, thus decreasing the overall team productivity. The "CEO" then deems that removing the "bad nut" is the cure. Are the co-workers complaining?
====================
Learning fast (to catch up, to be competent and stay injury-free), is, for your good. It's like the digital divide. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. But the poor can be rich overnight, if they are smart, or are willing to work doubly hard.
For me, Chaang's view might be too extreme for one to accept. But it serves as a reminder where our road blocks are.
A successful routine is when the coaches are able to bring the team together, and to choreograph a routine that brings the best out of each member.
As coaches, we can only spur you to learn as much as you can; To cover where the previous batch has left off, and then bring the team to greater heights. All these in less than 10 months. Even lesser if you factor off exams, performances etc. It is not an easy task, but bleah.
Let's not stress over such an issue ok?
Back to the Chinese idiom i posted. Actually it is not difficult to achieve what Chaang expects. How? How far and how wide are you willing to go & learn the skills to be proficient? You are not alone in this team.
*Therefore, don't expect miracles or skills to fall into your lap. If you know you are not doing good, seek help. Why is it there are people in the team who can achieve certain skills in a short time, others not? It's not pure talent. A lot of background work and training were done to achieve that. BUT WE WORK AS A TEAM. That's why there's DIY trainings. Options are placed upon your door step. It's just waiting for you to make the 1st step. ARE YOU READY??
