Dedication to passion - A story of local movie star Jae Liew!

Hi everybody,

If you have been wanting to watch a good movie, be sure to catch 3 peas in a pod! this movie features our very own local actress Jae Liew!

By now, you might be scratching your heads as to how this is linked to our team. Besides supporting local talent, Wildcards Cheerleading Team was also lucky enough to have the chance of working with Jae Liew. Here is a picture of her on a partner stunt extension. Amazing isn't it? Some people take a long time to reach this level in cheerleading, but she learnt it all in a few weeks. Here is the story of Wildcards Cheerleading Team and Jae Liew =)

Recently, I had the chance to work with Jae Liew on the set of Scrum! An upcoming drama about rugby. In the show, she plays a cheerleader. Having no cheerleading background, she was told to learn some SIMPLE MOVES. I was lucky enough to have the chance to coach her.

During her first lesson, she was very enthusiastic, daring and dedicated to learning. Sure enough by the end of the training, she was able to hit many stunts the most new cheerleaders take a few weeks to learn. During filming, she was even able to put up a simple routine and her confidence on the stunts was amazing and as a coach I was proud to be able to mentor her as a cheerleader. 

One big takeaway, was her DEDICATION to her PASSION in acting. She wanted to give a convincing and good performance to her audience. During breaks, she was at the side doing extra physical training with the flyers so as to make sure she is able to perform better. So just two lessons to share today =)

Passion

Being in love with what we do, and having an immense sense of joy in being able to do what we love. Is cheerleading your passion? What would we do to be able to be in the team?

Dedication

Doing anything and everything you can to excel in your passion. Going through pain and hardship and facing your fears to make sure you are able to perform your best in what you love. Are we doing enough? Can we do more?

These are the questions we have to post to ourselves all the time, and till the day we run our last routine, we have to keep improving.

Lastly, as a coach, there are times we  find ourselves learning more from our students than they learning from us, hence I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jae Liew for a really enriching and productive time training with her.
