The Wildcards Blog: WILDCARDS X NUS ALPHA VERVE EXCHANGE 2014

Hello to all readers!

Last Saturday, on the 1st of November 2014, Wildcards went down to NUS early in the morning for an exchange with our sister-team, NUS Alpha Verve! We were very happy to see the many new faces in Alpha Verve that came down for the exchange! That being said, we were also very happy to see the seniors and alumnus who came down as well!

Since the exchange started quite early in the morning and since most of us were still slightly sleepy, the exchange started out with a few ice-breaker games so that we could get to mingle around and get to know one another. There were attractive prizes, namely complimentary ZOUK tickets that were given by our hosts for the winners of the games!

After a short water break, we commenced with warm-ups led by the captain and vice-captain of Alpha Verve and then we started off with group stunts. We started off with the basic straight-ups and full-up to heel stretch group stunts where we paired from different bases and flyers from each teams so that we can learn from one another. We then moved to 2-man rewinds which is a more advanced stunts that was taught by our Coach Winston and our flyer, Jasmine Tan before breaking up into our groups to try on the stunts ourselves. It was a learning experience for most of us because most of us have not really touched on that stunt before. However, it was heartwarming to see each group gave it their all to get the correct technique to hit the stunt. We moved on the gymnastics after the group stunt segment and thank you Alpha for having such excellent gymnastics equipment! It was delightful to see the teams inter-changing techniques to better execute running and standing passes. Our last segment for the day was basket toss! Again, we paired up with bases and flyers from each teams so that we can learn from one another!

What an exciting exchange we had with NUS Alpha Verve! We hope that each and every one of us had something to take away after attending the exchange! There are lots more things to learn so never give up! Anyway, what is an exchange without the exchanging of team t-shirts and a group photo to end off a perfect day! Also, we would like to give a big thank you to Alpha Verve for hosting a rowdy bunch of Wildcards, not only for this wonderful exchange but also for always providing us with training ground in short notice! We really hope that both our teams can continue to work hard together and may we have this sister-team relation and cheer exchanges for many more years to come!
