Exchange program with SUTD Vertex

Monday, September 10, 2018

Hello Everyone! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Recently, on 8/09/2018, we had an exchange program with SUTD Vertex Cheer-leading Team! It was a fun filled Saturday afternoon training session where we were able to exchange cheer knowledge with one another! SUTD Vertex is a relatively new team, hence, Wildcards tried our best to impart whatever knowledge we had to the growing cheerleaders! It was an honor to be part of their growing process!

After a quick warm up, we proceeded to group stunts! We started off by doing 2 men straight ups and after it was consistent, we moved on to doing full ups!

😁Sugar Kim posing with a bright smile as she is overly joyed for group stunts😁

Flyers were also taught how to do full downs and double downs from stretch position on stunt! CONGRATULATIONS to all FLYERS that managed to hit their singles or double downsπŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

Gymnastics was next on the list!! Wildcards helped teach Vertex drills to perfect their back hand springs and also correct their cartwheel and round-off form! πŸƒ

Who says we cant have fun at training! Here are some fun shots taken during the exchange!

πŸ€Kim yet again! This time with her lucky leaf, where ever fun is, she's always thereπŸ€

Baskets were next! Bases were taught the proper form to execute a basket safely and with enough height for flyers to execute their elements! Flyers were taught drills on how to get their sharp toe touches and back tucks for baskets! It was thrilling to see some flyers unlock their basket back tucks for the first time! Congrats to everyone who attempted new elements!

Unfortunately we do not have any basket photos to upload! Everyone was too busy learning and spotting the stunt! Safety firstπŸ˜‡πŸ˜

To make up for the missing photos, here is a photo of a basket!
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜œπŸ˜œπŸ˜œ

Next up we had pyramids! Its always fun stacking people on top of one another but of course before we did that, our bases and flyers imparted their knowledge to Vertex regarding the respective roles of a pyramid stunt! Its always important to know what you are doing so as to ensure safety!πŸš‘

Together we attempted straight ups 1-1-1 and 2-2-1!! Good job to everyone that made pyramids possible! And special shout outs to flyers that conquered their fears of standing at the very top!πŸ”₯

Finally, the last segment of the day is partner stunts! It was nice seeing some new bases and flyers hitting their toss to hands for the first time! Moving on to pressing up hands to extension and blocks thereafter! Great job bases! Always remember to use your legs!!πŸ—πŸ—

The more experienced bases and flyers managed to hit straight liberty and cupie as well! Some flyers also managed to hit toss cupie and full ups with our Wildcards Bases! Fantastic job everyone!!

Here is a photo of " How to Cupie" to make up for the lack of partner stunt photosπŸ˜…πŸ˜

It's a wrap!! We ended of our exchange program with a ceremonial exchange of the two teams's official Tee!! Here are some photos taken during the exchange of shirts😍

It was a well spent Saturday with Vertex! Thank you so much for hosting us and we hope that the exchange program was fruitfulπŸ‡πŸŽπŸ‘πŸ’. Looking forward to more interactions with you guys!

Wildcards wishes SUTD Vertex a smooth sailing cheer journey in the upcoming years!

P.S see you guys at stunt fest😎

Wildcards x Ulu Pandan CC (2008 - 2018)

Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Dear readers,

Ulu Pandan CC has been the home of the Wildcards for a memorable 10 years. There were many fond memories that each member would definitely take away. We faced many ups and downs and always looked forward to having our usual supper opposite the CC. However as of 15 August 2018, we have officially shifted to Bishan Community Club as our new home! Even though the environment changed, the people are still the same.

We would like to thank everyone for the unconditional love and support they have shown us for the past 10 years. As we move on to the next phase of Wildcards, we would like to pay tribute to the place in which all of us call home. Thank you Ulu Pandan CC for giving us a place to call home for the past decade.

10 years have passed since Wildcards have been established, and we hope that we will be able to sustain another 10, if not more years to come!

Wildcards Annual Kukup Trip!

Tuesday, July 24, 2018

Hello everyone!

First of all, we would like to apologise on the long hiatus as we have been busy training for season 2018/2019.

So, Wildcards finally had our annual Kukup bonding trip over the weekend of 14th and 15th July and boy was it filled with much excitement and laughter! One of the purpose of our annual trip is mainly to better integrate our newcomers into our family, outside of the mats! What's more exciting about the trip this season is that the group was bigger than it had ever been before, totalling up to 31 of our active members and alumni!

We gathered in the early morning of 9am at Buona Vista MRT where the bus driver picked us up. Unfortunately due to it being a weekend, we were stuck in a traffic jam at Woodlands checkpoint for over 2 hours and then roughly about an hour at the JB customs.

Most of us took a quick nap in the bus and once we reached our designated place of stay, the first thing on our agenda was to EAT!

Once lunch had been devoured by the beasts, it was off for some electric bike riding, and then of course, ice cream and coconut jelly! We took our ride around Kukup, exploring the area with one another as we do not always get to experience the kampong life and it was a good team bonding activity for us.

Also, thanks to our alumni, Boulder, we get to see some of the shots taken from his drone!

Come evening time, it was time for our yearly tradition of writing our well wishes on a lantern and then letting it fly off into the sky, and also not forgetting the highlight of our trip, which was playing with the fireworks! Well for those who went, it was certainly a heart-stopping time with the numerous explosions! Once that was done, we retreated back to our chalet and went about doing activities such as playing mahjong and singing karaoke. The more adventurous ones went for a night riding sessions and some went for of course, supper at a nearby place that sells lok-lok!

All in all, it was a trip filled with much laughter and awesome company and hoped that everyone had gotten to know one another much better. It was also a much needed short weekend break for all of us as well! Till next year, farewell Kukup!
