The term “ Wildcards’’ coined by Mr. Vincent Fok ( Magnum Force, 2002-2005) is used to describe existing cheerleaders who are still passionate about the sport, but are no longer part of their former squad. Together with Ms Jane’s (Anglo Chinese Junior College) initiative to set up an external cheerleading team, Ulu Pandan Wildcards was officially formed with the support of Ulu Pandan PAYM Chairman, Mr. Theseira Dominic Gerard on 26 August 2008.
Wildcards is a cheerleading youth academy which aims to gather and cultivate likeminded individuals who love the sport, but are unable to find avenues to expand their talent due to the lack of opportunities in the local scene.
Our objective lies in bringing people from all walks of life together to foster better social interactions and camaraderie so that we not only grow in terms of the technical aspect of the sport, but also to build a home that our cheerleaders can associate and identity themselves with.
Our current members include full time working adults, as well as students from NTU, SMU, Ngee Ann Poly, Nanyang Poly, Republic Poly, Anglo Chinese JC and Coral Secondary.
As part of our effort to promote the sport, our PAYM Chairman has announced plans to expand our horizon to schools such as ITE Dover, where the opportunity to cheerlead has previously been absent.
We only live once. Time will pass and people may change, but this should never deny anybody from doing something they really like. If you think you have what it takes to be a Wildcard, drop us a message and we will get back to you shortly.
For the love of the sport!
