Jumps, Dance and Stage presence (台风)

Yifang brought up several important points during her visit yesterday. For the benefit of those who were not here, I shall sum up what she has highlighted:

1) You are hitting your big stunts, but I cannot feel your routine.

2) You are too overly concerned about hitting your stunts. You forgot what is the true meaning of being a cheerleader.

3) I know I can feel your routine when I finish watching your routine and I can feel my hair standing. I do not feel you.

4) Simin stayed really tight in all her stunts.

5) Jasmine has the best expression. She enjoys what she is doing. Has the best energy. But Jasmine alone cannot compensate for the whole team.

6) For basket tosses, flyers do not keep the tight V position, do not hold their weight together. You are too overly reliant on the bases to catch you. This is the main reason why the loader always gets hit.

7) I see a lot of effort from the bases.

8) As a flyer, I can see that you are too overly reliant on your bases. You (flyers) are all are very lucky. Back in my time, we flyers had to save ourselves. Today, you can fall knowing that your bases will catch you, but that does not mean that you do not fight for your stunts and fall without control. You need to put in effort to save yourself as well. By means of ''saving yourself'' means having the discipline to stay tight, neat, sharp regardless of how tired you are and what situation you are in.

9) When you are tired/ cannot think, you can only rely on your basics. Basics come from strict flying/basing discipline every single time you stunt. Not just during competitions only. EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU STUNT!

10) Do not rely too much on video. There is no point doing the same wrong thing and watching it on video again.

11) You all cant just expect/wait for pple to motivate you...you need to motivate others... sometimes your coaches needs motivation too...

CR's note: I like to look at top gun when it comes to dance and jumps. Clean, sharp, full of energy and nothing too overly complicated.

In order for ppl to feel your routine, you need to first feel your own role as a cheerleader in the routine, and understand how you contribute to the entire operation of the routine. Constantly run the routine in your head (yes you can do this while jogging for example), listen to your routine music whenever you are free or even practice your own stunts in front of the mirror at home. Picture yourself to be performing in front of a huge crowd. How you can portray the message of your love for the Sport on the competition day itself. And you translate all these feelings into your routine every time you execute it.

Have a good rest this CNY. 5 more weeks to go!

PS: Congrats to Simin from graduating from the Sad Story Corner!

PPS: Congrats to Candy for assuming her new coaching position!
