Wildcards Cheerleading STAR AWARDS

Thursday, December 29, 2016

As the year draws to a close, Wildcards had our very own mini mini mini STAR AWARDS, to recognise all the superstars in the team. These people have contributed in many ways, and the team will not be the same without them! They are true blue superstars!

We begin with one of our highly coveted awards: The 5-season award. This award is given to individuals who have competed in the competitive team category for 5 years. These individuals have sacrificed much. Throughout the 5 years, instead of spending weekday nights working or out with friends, these people chose to hone their skills and bring the team to a higher level.
The 5 year award is sponsored by people who are also similar seasoned veterans like them: Chaang (Founder), Huishan (first 5 year award recipient), Zhi Liang (Co-founder), Winston, (Face of Wildcards), Zheng Wei (Wise one in Wildcards), and Ochi (Beast of the East).
The 5 year awards this time is a classy watch, to signify the extensive time that these recipients have given to the team.

Without further ado, let's introduce our 5 season award recipients!

Tam Zhao Xuan

Zhao Xuan has been a very dedicated and valuable player to the team. Fondly known to many as Coach Zhao, he is currently coaching Hall 14 Rebels, and SUTD Vertex. His portfolio is one that others will be envious of. Because of his experience in coaching and teaching, Zhaoxuan has reached a higher understanding of stunts and is a reliable go-to-person when in need of help. His hunger for success is comparable only to his actual hunger for food. His confidence and courage is also another trait to be admired, evident from his fearless gymnastic skills.

Rachel Lim Zhen

Well known (Well heard.?) in the cheer scene, this legend needs no introduction. During the early days of cheer, everybody knew who Rachel was. Her ability was well known to many people. And the sound of her name may strike fear in some, as she used to be a fierce and unforgiving coach. But her demanding character has brought the team to acheive things they didnt think was possible. After taking a long hiatus from cheer, she came back to the team when the team needed her without any hesitation. It seems that her abilities and positive attitudes can never be taken away from her.

Jasmine Tan

Another flyer that needs no introduction. Jasmine may have joined cheer much later than our previous 2 recipients, but she is unfazed by that, and she let her skills do the talking. It seems that there is nothing that Jasmine cannot do. Being an all-rounded cheerleader, she excels in group stunts, partner stunts, gymnastics, baskets, pyramids, and cheer. You name it, she will beat you at it. Her never-say-die attitude and her fiery determination has inspired many people in the team. Jasmine is well known in the cheer scene as one of the flyers that pioneered in elite stunts.

Thank you all for the many many many hours you have given to the team! We hope that you continue to inspire more people to be like you 3. This way, the team can continue to upgrade and be better.

We also took this chance to give away some small awards to the active team! These individuals have been highlighted for their exemplary performance.

Most improved flyer: Ning Zhen

As the runner up in Malaysia's Charms Cheerleading Competition Partner stunt Coed  Premier division, Ning Zhen is not an entirely new face to most. Her experience from Sheares Dashers built up her foundation, and when she joined Team Wildcards earlier this year, her determination and hard work dramatically improved her skills as a flyer. Anyone who knows Ning Zhen will know that she will not be contented until a stunt hits to her expectations.

Most improved base: Jun Zhi

Jun Zhi only joined us earlier this year. His busy schedule took away much of his time to train and improve. However, that did not let him down as he continues to chase his stunts with a ferocity that is hard to come by. Jun Zhi has impressive physical ability, and that has helped him to make the improvements he did. Knowing that he is much less experienced than most others in the team, he works hard to constantly improve all aspects of his cheer abilities.

Most dedicated member: Chew Long

Chew Long, or as we fondly call her Long-jie, has given alot for the team in many ways. Firstly, this is the second consecutive year that she is running as a team manager in the Wildcards management committee. As such, she has been handling everyone's concerns and issues in the team. Her attention to detail and high standards has made her a reliable person to go to for help in the team. She goes beyond her responsibilities as a team manager to settle many other stuff in the team. Without her, the team would surely not function the same way. Furthermore, her dedication to the team remains unwavered even though she is getting married soon! Her dedication comes from an immense love for the team, which has motivated her to do many things in the team. Her level of dedication and effort is truly inspiring and sets a good example for everyone else in the team.

Congratulations all award recipients! Thats all for now..
But remember, your performance is always being watched by others, whether consciously or unconsciously... so always push yourself to break your limits and you will surely be rewarded! Till next time~
